Silk Road Association is a registered international Civil Society Organization, a Non- Profit & Non- Political status that carries out its role effectively to promote Silk Road civil society Initiatives in Asia CIS, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and European countries, having its regional offices located in France, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Hong Kong, SAR, PRC, Mainland China and India. Silk Road Association is a member of various international organizations, government institutions, and chambers of Commerce of various Silk Road countries and has been instrumental in creating bridges between the Silk Road countries for promoting educational programs, business, trade investment opportunities, and promotion of sustainable green and smart city concept sharing.

The prime objective of the Silk Road Association is to create a platform for intergovernmental communication within the Silk Road cities to enhance, revive, and rejuvenate the ancient Silk Road by unveiling various civil society initiatives together. Since the ancient Silk Road was not only the main trading route of the world but also a melting point of knowledge and cultures. Silk Road Association undertakes several initiatives to promote educational and cultural exchanges, including people-to-people interactions between the countries along the Silk Road. To achieve this initiative, various monuments/pavilions were constructed in the International Expositions organized by BIE, France, and AIPH-approved exhibitions around the world to showcase the theme of the expo’s and Silk Road Countries' culture and traditions, including various promotional activities carried out to create awareness of the importance of the Silk Road countries alliances in 21st Century.  During their participation in International Global events and expos, the Silk Road Association organizes several B2B business and investment platforms for the Silk Road Countries & cities to interface with the world.

The Silk Road Association's main goal is to promote the revival of the ancient trading route, which consists of land and maritime Silk Roads worldwide. The initiative is intended to improve the infrastructure of overland and maritime routes to drive trade and capital flows between the East and the West.

The Silk Road Association's initiatives are primarily aimed at creating a platform that is expected to generate jobs and opportunities for people and businesses along the Silk Road routes. By connecting companies and investors around the world, the Association facilitates business in areas such as infrastructure, finance, trading, logistics, and professional services. These initiatives also open up trade corridors to reach the growing middle-class society, fostering a sense of hope and optimism for the future.

As an International Organization, the Silk Road Association has actively participated in various International events, including World Expos and International Horticultural Expos. The Association is an active member of AIPH – The International Association of Horticultural Producers, the approving body of International Horticultural expos worldwide. The Association works closely with AIPH to bridge the Silk Road cities with a common agenda of greening the Silk Road and promoting green and innovative smart city concepts. The Association's regular participation in various national and international events, congresses, workshops, and seminars, which focus on civil society initiatives and future green sustainable city development, inspires and motivates all involved.

In 2015, the Silk Road Association passed a resolution to create GLOBAL – SRUC (Global- Silk Road University Consortium), a platform where elite universities along the Silk Road could become members. These member universities together could create a platform where various academic exchanges could be derived for mutual benefits through scholarly interactions, cultural interchanges, cooperative research projects, Exchange of Undergraduate, Post Graduates students including academic staff, Setting up of Dual Degree Programs for the Bachelor & Master programs, Short Study Program, Semester Exchange Programs, Summer Programs.

This initiative enables students from the countries of the Silk Road to pursue their academic studies with any educational institution that is a member of the Global SRUC (Silk Road University Consortium).

Each member university signs an Inter-institutional MOU/ Agreement with each other facilitated by Global SRUC.  If the member university agrees to cooperate to exchange students and/or staff in the context of the Global –SRUC programme. They commit to respect the quality requirements of the Charter for Higher Education in all aspects of the organization and management of the Students, in particular, the recognition of the credits (or equivalent) awarded to students by the member university.
